Hapé ceremonie
Hapé/Rapé / Third eye ceremonie
Hapé/Rapé provides a very powerful and profound healing and cleansing on many levels.
The use of Rapé is aimed at connecting with the spirits of nature while invoking their power to bring about physical and mental healing.
In general, indigenous tribes believe that Rapé helps to open and cleanse the chakras, facilitating a sense of grounding and connection to the Earth.
Some believe it supports the release of disease from the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies. Furthermore, it is said to open the third eye chakra, decalcify the pineal gland, and clear mental fog and confusion.
Ultimately, negative thought patterns are released, and Rapé particularly supports our connection to the breath while expanding our connection to Spirit.
It gets you out of your head and into your body.
Rapé comes from (South) America, where tobacco has been considered the most medicinal plant for thousands of years, used for healing various internal and external conditions, for protection against negative energies, and for grounding. It aids in releasing emotional, physical, and spiritual illnesses and reduces relativity, confusion, and fear.
Energy channels open, allowing connection to the higher self. Rapé also decalcifies and detoxifies the pineal gland.
The ritual is performed by blowing Rapé into the nostrils using a pipe made of bamboo or bone. The intense blow immediately targets the mind, opening and liberating it so that intentions can take effect.
Rapé also supports the release of emotional, physical, and spiritual illnesses, alleviating negativity and confusion. This creates a solid foundation for the mind.
Shamans use Rapé to realign their energy channels, attune to their higher self, and intensify their connection to the world and the universe. Rapé is known to move energy and bring emotions to the surface.
Additionally, Rapé clears the way for detoxifying the body. It cleans out excess mucus, toxins, and bacteria. It supports the opening of your third eye, leading to clearer inner knowing and sharper intuition.
The pineal gland is believed to play a crucial role in spiritual functions such as intuition, (lucid) dreaming, connection with the universe, and manifestations. That's why it's often referred to as the third eye or the seat of the soul.
Rapé is a sacred shamanic medicine or tool that has been used for thousands of years by tribes of the Amazon region and remains an essential part of their tribal culture and history. Rapé is the name for one of many snuff powders, with its roots in numerous indigenous tribes in Acre, Brazil.
Interestingly, Rapé is not sniffed or inhaled. Instead, it is administered (blown) into the nostrils using a special blowpipe called a Kuripe (self-administration) or a Tepi (administered by another person).
This "blow" is quite powerful and not particularly pleasant. It can be quite shocking.
Effects and Use
The Rapé is blown high into the nostrils using a pipe made of bamboo or bone. The intense impact immediately centers the mind, silences the internal chatter, and opens a fully liberated mental space for your intentions.
A Rapé ceremony is entirely based on your powerful and highly influential intention. You can imagine your mind as a garden—if you tend to it with love, time, and dedication, it will blossom. Positive affirmations, self-reflection, and focused intention are the tools needed to care for your garden. When applied daily with love and dedication, you will soon see how strongly you can flourish.
It is a very short and powerful ceremony of love and gratitude.
Additionally, Rapé helps release emotional, physical, and spiritual illnesses and reduces negativity and confusion, allowing a solid mental foundation to be established. In the same way, shamans use Rapé to recalibrate their energy channels and higher self and to intensify their connection with the world and the universe.
Rapé also clears the way for detoxification of the body and removal of all excess mucus, toxins, and bacteria, contributing to the relief of colds and allergies.
Calcification of the pineal gland has been linked to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, and to fluoride exposure, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a healthy pineal gland.
Working with the Medicine
Energetic benefits: It opens the third eye and heart chakras, making you feel an immediate connection to everything around you—including people—and elevates your mind and soul. It is also very grounding and calming at the same time.
Another benefit of using Rapé is that it literally expels all negative and low-frequency vibrations from your being, which in shamanic traditions are also known as "bad spirits." Your mind becomes clearer and sharper, and you generally feel cleansed and purified.
Dosage:
At Tranzendansa, we provide small to moderate doses, depending on the individual. Normally, we start everyone with a smaller dose to see how they respond to the medicine. Some people are fine with a small amount of Rapé, while others may need double the amount to feel the desired effect.
Side Effects
Although the dosage will be relatively low/moderate, sensitive individuals may feel a bit nauseous. Note that this is uncommon, but it can happen, and in rare cases, people may even purge after taking Rapé.
Don't worry if this happens—it's normal. From a shamanic perspective, it simply means you needed a deeper cleansing, whether it be physical, mental, or emotional. It won't be as intense as the purging often experienced during Ayahuasca ceremonies.
Trust the medicine with all your heart (just as you would with any other medicine). Set your intention before connecting with it. Connect with the Spirit of Rapé through your trust, gratitude, and communication.
It can be something as simple as recognizing that Rapé has a spirit and being thankful for the opportunity to connect with it. Trust the medicine and lovingly accept what it brings you.
How to Best Prepare
Eat a light meal before the Rapé ceremony.
Try not to schedule too much on the day of or the day after the ceremony. It helps to approach this medicine without stress.
Eat your last light meal about 2 hours before the ceremony.
Try to avoid caffeine/sugar on the day of the ceremony.
Water and tea are fine.
Make sure to drink plenty of water and eat healthy, organic food in the days following the ceremony.
The best preparation is found in stillness. Give yourself space and rest around the experience.
Reasons Not to Use Rapé
- Pregnancy
- High/low blood pressure
- Heart conditions
- Thyroid disorders
- Kidney disease
- Depression
- Nervousness
- Physical and/or mental illness
- Use of MAO inhibitors
- Other medications
The use of Rapé in combination with alcohol or other hard drugs is strictly prohibited. Rapé "cleanses" the body and mixing it with these substances can make you dangerously ill—even if they are still in your bloodstream from the day before. Do not take risks and treat these medicines with respect.
If you are mentally or emotionally unstable, this is not for you. Plant medicines are often seen as an escape or a magic pill for what we want to run from—but they are not a cure-all.
What Does the Ceremony Look Like?
We begin the day by setting your intentions.
What do you want to release, and what do you want to welcome?
You will receive an explanation about the different kinds of Rapé we may use, and we'll choose from them together.
We can do 2 to 3 rounds in total, but this is of course not mandatory.
We also use Moxa, which will be placed on your third eye/pineal gland, accompanied by beautiful music for guidance.
We can optionally include Sananga in the ceremony.
Sananga
Sananga is made from the roots and bark of the Tabernaemontana undulata shrub, a type of "milkwood" in the Apocynaceae family, and comes directly from Amazonian tribal peoples. This sacred and powerful medicine is used to heal physical and spiritual ailments by clearing the mind of distracting energies and allowing a whole new level of perception and focus. Sananga is infused with intentions of absolute clarity and focus.
Usage and Medicinal Effects
The pure spirit of Sananga supports deep cleansing of blocked energies on emotional, physical, and spiritual levels. It balances and boosts your energy, helping uncover the root of disease and blockages, leading to complete balance, focus, and peace of mind.
It enhances spiritual vision and awareness and increases the ability to read the intentions of others. Sananga also improves long-distance vision, which is important for visualizations and future predictions.
Besides that, the drops are used to heal and improve a wide range of eye conditions (Lambert et al., 2010), such as nearsightedness, depth and color perception, image clarity, and accuracy of detection. This sacred medicine is also used in serious cases like glaucoma, cataracts, and blindness.
Because the drops can have such powerful effects on your visual capacity, they are often applied before or during other plant ceremonies to enhance visions and spiritual insights. While Sananga is known for its effects on vision and visualization, it is considered a universal indigenous remedy.
Dosage
Shortly after applying Sananga to the eyes, most users report a strong burning and intense stinging sensation. These effects subside after a few minutes and can be eased by focusing on your breathing and visualizing the pain removing blocked energy and bringing deep healing. Try to surrender completely and relax as much as possible.
Contact lenses must be removed before applying Sananga.
Rapé ceremonies can be done one-on-one or in a group setting.
